Friday Tag Party

Decided to tag myself and join the fun after reading this post at Caffeinated Adventures (you can play tag too, see #5 below). Here are the questions:
1. Total number of books you own.
2. What is the last book(s) you bought?
3. What was the last book you read?
4. List 5 books that are particularly meaningful to you (in no particular order).
5. Tag five people.
1. I probably own close to 1000 books. It's been a sickness in our family for a long time.
2. Finally getting around to Harry Turtledove's alternative history featuring reptilian space invaders in WordWar: In the Balance and Tilting the Balance.
3. Finished digesting Four Views On Hell (Stanley Gundrey, editor) with my brother - we read a theological work and discuss it each week over the phone - but I know I've read something since then... Oh, I know, Walker Percy's The Second Coming.
4. Boy, this one's hard, but I'd at least include Intellectuals Don't Need God and Other Modern Myths (Alister McGrath), What's So Amazing About Grace (Philip Yancey), The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis), The Reformed Pastor (Richard Baxter), and the original Foundation Trilogy (Isaac Asimov).
5. Tag. You're it.

PS Comment below with your responses, and especially if you host a tag party at your blog. Plus, I'll add Amazon links so that if you want to buy a book through this site, I'll get credit, wink wink. ;-) lgp

I read a book by Turtledove on the Civil war. Wasn't overly impressed, but found him to be a decent writer. I'm amazed you got through Foudation. Do you know how many times I started the the first book and never got past the 2nd chapter? I give you mad props dog. Thanks for stopping by my sight. Like yours as well. I am curious to read that book on Hell.

Like I really have nothing better to do. :-)

#1 - too many to count, but not as many as you

#2 - Prayer for Owen Meany (several people have told me lately that this is their favorite book ever, so I bought it but haven't read it yet).

#3 - As in completed? I've got many in the hopper. I'd say the last one completed was New York Trilogy by Paul Auster.

#4 - this is the fun one. Think eclectic. Definitely Mere Christianity (CSL), but right alongside this would have to be nearly everything written by CSL, so count all those as one :-); The Last Days of Socrates (Plato); Running the Amazon (Joe Kane); Beloved (Toni Morrison); and last but not least, In A Sunburned Country (and everything else by Bill Bryson, an intelligent, witty travel writer). I'm sure I am forgetting other true favorites. These are just the first to come to mind.

#5 - Pass, no blog to carry on...sorry!

1. My Delicious Library says I own 716 books, but I'm about 3/4 of the way through cataloging them, so I'd say about 1000 or so. Lots of them are old with no ISCI codes so I have to manually enter them.

2. "Salt: A World History"

3. The Creative Habit - Twyla Tharp

4. Little Big Man, Catch 22, Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes, The Sickness Unto Death

5. Maybe I'll put this on my blog. :)
